What happens during the visit?
We measure the run, look at what the posts have to anchor into, and go through the material and infill choices against what you are trying to achieve, whether that is keeping a view, cutting wind on a balcony, or passing an inspection. You end up with a written price for the work as specified.
Why do you not publish prices on the site?
Railing pricing swings more than most exterior work, and a range wide enough to be honest is too wide to be useful. A 24-foot level run of aluminum picket and a 24-foot frameless glass stair run share a length and almost nothing else. What drives the number is the length of the run, whether it follows stairs, what the posts anchor into, the infill you choose, and whether an old railing has to come out first.
That is the reason the visit exists, and it is the reason the visit is free. You leave with a written price rather than a phone quote that changes once somebody has actually seen the property.
Do I need a permit for a railing in Los Angeles?
Guardrail work on an elevated deck, balcony, or stair usually falls under permit and inspection in LA city and county, and the requirement is about the guard height and the load the posts have to carry rather than about the look of it. A handrail added to an existing entry stair often does not. We tell you which one you are looking at during the consultation instead of finding out after the fact.
